Order your who ate the baby> paper at affordable prices! I believe that this short story reflected the thoughts of many people around the world. In this story, the man feels discontent, because he believes that he should live among his equals. Many ignorant people around the world, who believe that they are better than others because of material possessions like money, also feel that they should be associating only with people at their "level". This way of thinking (that you are better than others) is what made the man quest out for equals, and is what creates partitions between societies in the world, and creates hatred towards one another.

In the story, the man kept reassuring himself that he was a horse, and didnt allow himself to sink down to the level of a dog. I believe that a horse represented a free worker of the Crow Indians, while a dog represents a slave, which has absolutely no dignity. Reassuring himself that he had dignity and was free like the horse was a positive thing which helped the man to escape in the end. If the man wouldve sank down to the level of the dogs, he wouldve never been allowed to marry Pretty Calf, and so never have gotten his chance to escape. For success in life one of the biggest requirements is belief in oneself. When someone doesnt believe in himself, he will fail and try again a couple of times, but will soon give up, because he doesnt think he is good enough to succeed. However, since the man believed in himself, he was able to keep up his hopes, and remained in the camp long enough to see his opportunity to escape, and seize it.

I think the section of the story where the man goes out with the children and kills an enemy Indian, represents his transformation from a horse to a human. When he killed the man, it displayedavery and courage, and forced the Crow people to acknowledge him as a part of the society. Since he got horses from the Indian, he could no longer be thought of as a horse himself. He was not thought of as an equal, but was accepted. This was the part of the story in which his confidence was boosted tremendously, and he became sure that he would escape from the camp, and return to his home in Boston.

I think the authors message in this short story was that all men are created equal. Material possessions dont make someone superior to others, and if you think you are better than others, you Please note that this sample paper on who ate the baby> is for your review only. So many days I have spent doing something that my future doesnt hold in store for me, such as soccer, basketball, and baseball, just to name a few. All that time I always knew that I was an athlete. There was so much talent that my little body possessed, but I just couldnt come up with the right way to use it. While I always had fun playing those sports, there was always something missing. I loved the camaraderie, the leadership, the team bonding, and I even loved the discipline, I just never had the love for the sport. I never had the desire to go into my backyard by myself and practice to the point of keeling over. My father always told me that if I wanted to go anywhere in sports, that is what I ha to do. I tried to take his advice but I would end up being outside for ten minutes and get bored. I started to give up, maybe sports are just something that would act as a high school activity and that would be the end of it. Luckily for me, that whole idea ended because of my sophomore swim class.

I had always hated swimming. I hated to get into the water and swim laps. My entire body would be sore and I felt like I was getting nowhere. There was no ball for me to play with, and no goal for me to reach. It always seemed completely and utterly pointless. That is one of the reasons that I wasnt excited at all about swim class. Sure my friends were there with me, but if I wanted to get a good grade I couldnt goof around. So the first day we did laps, this is great I thought the same old boring stuff. The second day we did laps again. I was bored out of my mind; it was just another thing that I was doing that I wont in my future. Finally we started to do more things. We started to play some games such as water volleyball and under water hockey. I finally started to have fun, but the real fun didnt start until the first day that we played water polo. I remember thinking to myself that it was going to be another boring thing. You cant move fast in the water, and you cant stand when you are throwing the ball making it harder to throw faster. We practiced some techniques such as dribbling and shooting. That is when I realized that there was actually something to the game, it definitely wasnt easy. In order to dribble I had to keep the ball in front of me and swim free style causing splashes to push the ball forward. I was only allowed to ever touch the ball with one hand at a time. The ball was wet and slippery making the technique very difficult to grasp onto. When shooting, I couldnt touch the ground with my feet which made it more difficult to aim and throw hard. The more we learned, the more difficult it was.

I was having so much fun in my water polo class that I began to regain some hope. I thought maybe there is actually something that I can use my athletic ability on. I couldnt wait to learn more about the sport.

I went straight home and decided to do some research. I couldnt believe all the different associations that I found. There were so many names that I couldnt keep track. There were even some places that I could join to enhance my skill level. There is the USA Water Polo INC, the Collegiate Water Polo Association, the Australian Water Polo INC, the National Water Polo League, the New Zealand Water Polo Association, and many more.

I also learned that water sports first became a very popular thing in England. Many people loved to spend their days at the pool doing something that wasnt competitive but more recreational. Gradually various versions of land sports started to be played in the water. There was water football (or soccer), water rugby, water handball, and water polo. Water polo in this case however was when men would ride on wooden barrels and strike a pall with a stick, much like the game of horse polo.

Out of all of sports, under water rugby became the most popular. In this version of rugby, the object was for a player to have both hands on the ball and touch it to a post on the other side of the pool. This game was actually very violent and many men got injured. The game was full of contact, and as the game progressed fights began to occur away from the ball, and as the game is in the water many men passed out due to lack of oxygen. This game for some reason had a link with water polo and as a result it back then was called water polo.

In 1877 the Scottish took the game and made a more modernized version. They introduced the idea of having goals instead of just posts and the prohibited the idea of tackling. This turned the game into a much less contact and safer sport. The Scottish version helped to give emphasis to the idea of team work. Many concepts had to be introduced and practiced to perfection. Such concepts include passing, shooting, and swimming speed.

The first American water polo team wasnt created until about 1888. The team was started in Boston but soon the sport spread to various swim clubs and in some places around New York. The American water polo game was very different than the Scottish. They played in small indoor pools and as a result passing wasnt emphasized and the game started to take on a form very similar to that of American football. The American game became almost even rougher than the original English version had been.

Different versions of water polo started to spread around America. There was even a type of softball water polo. However this version wasnt as popular as the original version and it was soon dropped.

When water polo reached a certain popularity goal, the AAU took over creating tournaments all over America. This idea seemed great at the time but then that year in the national championship tournament, the semi-final game between the New York Athletic Club and the Chicago Athletic Association resulted in a major fight and because of it, the AAU dropped water polo all together.

In 114 water polo teams all around America and the AAU decided to come up with national rules for the game. This gave them a greater advantage to have the game be a national competitive sport and also a chance for more tournaments to be produced. After this the AAU decided to start conducting national championships once again. However some groups kept on playing the unaccepted softball version.

A man named James R. Smith helped to create a different type of ball then the leather soccer ball that they were originally using. He created a new ball that had a cotton covering of rubber faic to keep the ball from becoming heavier from absorbing too much water. The new ball also helped to keep the ball less slippery as it allowed for more grip in the course of the game.

The new ball helped to create a higher scoring game and also a faster game; as a result of this the new ball was adopted all around the world. It was even accepted into the 156 Olympics as the official ball.

In 177 the AAU was replaced with another group called the U.S. Water Polo, Inc.

Women were not as accepted into the game of water polo. They started to play it early in the 10s, however the sport was considered to be too rough for women as the proper sport we have now was not yet created. People thought that women would not be able to handle the contact and that it would result in more sustaining injuries. Because of the level of roughness water polo for women was dropped by colleges and clubs. However the AAU began conducting womens national championships in 161.

Womens water polo quickly spread mostly into California and Florida. In fact, most of the top teams since the early 170s have come from those states.

Since 186 there has been a womens championship held by the Federation Internationale de natation amateur (FINA) as part of the World Aquatic Games.

There were also a lot more rules of the game that I wasnt familiar with yet. I learned that the game had to be played in a pool that is at least 5 feet, 11 inches deep. This is because it makes it much harder for the players to be able to stand up. The whole idea creates a much more difficult game creating the need to be very physically fit. The goal is supposed to be feet, 10 inches high and at least feet above the water. The goal looks almost exactly the same as a soccer or hockey goal would look like. There are two bars going vertically from the ground and one bar connected to them horizontally.

For the men and women there are different regulations for the sizes of the pool. The mens pool is 8 feet long and 65 feet wide. The womens pool is 8 feet long and 56 feet wide. The womens pool is smaller because it is thought that it makes it easier for women. In my opinion women dont need the smaller pool because of physical fitness. A professional woman athlete would definitely be able to play in a mens pool or even just a fit woman athlete. However because women arent as strong as men, it makes for a higher scoring, faster, and more exciting game.

Games are divided into four quarters. Usually they range within 5 to 8 minutes in length depending upon what level of play the game is played at. If there is a tie there may be two periods of overtime with a length of minutes each. If the game is still tied after the two periods the game will keep going into overtime until there is a final goal scored making the decision.

There are seven players on each team including the goalie. The teams are differentiated by the color of the caps that are worn on their heads. This is the same idea of having color uniforms in land sports just as basketball, soccer, and rugby. However because of agility and speed purposes, body uniforms are not good in the water and capes seemed like the better solution. The goalie wears a red cap so that they arent mistaken for regular players. Usually the cap also has a number 1 on it in either white or blue.

The game starts with the ball being put in the middle of the pool. When the whistle is blown both teams race to the center or sprint to the center to gain possession of the ball.

There are different types of ways to progress with the ball. One may either dribble or pass the ball. When a player is trying to dribble they are to swim forward with the ball in front of them, creating waves that move the ball forward. They are never to touch the ball with two hands or the whistle will blow and the other team will gain possession. This is true for every player except for the goalie who can hold it with two hands. When players are on defense they cant interfere with a players movements unless the player is still and holding the ball.

When passing the ball, again you may not hold the ball with two hands and you may not pass while you are standing on the floor. This further enhances the fitness level, needing your upper body to be stronger in order to create harder, sharper passes to other teammates.

If a player fails to follow the rules, depending upon how bad the offense was, action will be taken by the referees. For small fouls such as touching the ball with two hands, or throwing the ball while standing in place the whistle will be blown and the other team will get a free pass to a teammate to advance them forward. The person taking the free throw may either pass or dribble forward; however at least two players must touch the ball after a free throw if a goal is to be scored.

For an major fouls occur such as contact fouls, and bad sportsmanlike fouls a person can be penalized by having one minute in the penalty box, and just like in basketball a player is removed from the game after committing five personal fouls. If a foul occurs near the goal that prevented scoring a penalty shot can be taken from the 4-meter line.

Of course even with all these rules there are still ways to be disrespectful, because of this they have a code of conduct. Each individual and team must abide by this code or the team or person can be penalized. One rule is that unless there is warm up space provided teams should not enter the deck area until after the game is finished. Another rule is that athletes are not allowed to change on the deck, they must use the changing rooms, and they canting any of their equipment out onto the deck, it must stay in the changing room or next to the team bench. Players have to present themselves in a respectful manner which is why all use of profanity is prohibited in the facility. The teams must all have warm up suits, if the team is on deck no street clothes can be worn and all teams must wear caps during warm ups to show what team they are on and also for hygiene reasons. And another very important rule of conduct is that all players must not criticize the officials publicly before, during, or after the game.

This code does not only apply to the players but the coaches also have their special code. Coaches also must not use profanity in the facilities and also should not criticize the referees. Coaches should hold discussions with the officials after a game and should be in a private area where no spectators, players, and administrators can be involved. Coaches also have a dress code on deck. They must wear a collared shirt with nice shoes or sandals and nice pants or shorts. No jeans and t-shirts should be worn. Also out of respect for the hosts of games and tournaments they are to write a letter of appreciation to the hosts athletic director.

I learned so much through my research online. The game is one which you need to be there physically as well as mentally. It is like all other sports a game where hard work and determination is needed as well as a high fitness and athletic ability. Even though the sport is not as well known through out the world it is constantly growing and becoming more popular with not only adults and college students but also with young children. With the rapid growth of the sport it is expected to become more popular, with more television time and news paper reports. Hopefully by the time that I am a professional the sport will have raised to a very respectable level where the rules and regulations as well as the emotions are known all through out the world.

According to I.Halmgren, "science fictional worlds" "the distinctive feature of science fiction is in its generic license to create worlds that are other than the world we know." This statement is partly true for Phillip K Dicks novel Do androids dream of electric sheep?. However, the genre of science fiction is better described by the Oxford Concise Dictionary of Literary Terms, "Prose fiction that explores the probable outcomes of some improbable or impossible transformations of the basic human (or intelligent nonhuman) condition."(Baldick0) This essay will argue that Do Androids Dream of Electric sheep?, fits into that criteria perfectly because, although there are some new things that place the novel in the science fiction category, the world created by Dick is basically the world that we inhabit.

The nova, which are the new things that are different about the world of Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep, are that it is set in the future in a decaying post-nuclear environment. Therefore there is a lot more technology. People have colonized other planets and they have hovercrafts. The most important technological difference is that now androids are so completely self-aware and similar to humans that it has become difficult to decide who is who. The people in the novel are like us except that their lives and ethics seem different because of their dystopic environment and because of the new dilemma they face concerning the ethical treatment of androids. However, the differences are only surface variations of life, as we know it in our own world.

Even at face value, the world of Do Androids Dream of Electric sheep? immediately has elements that reflect our own world. For example, the main protagonist, Rick Deckard at first appears to be an ordinary man with an ordinary, stereotypical marriage and domestic life. He has regular thoughtless ideals that are very familiar to us. He wants to keep up with the neighbors. It is a capitalist, consumeristic world complete with commercials andand names and living in a way that one does not particularly like in order to hold down a job and pay for merchandise. In both worlds materialism is a barrier to true understanding. Even animals are commodified in this story and traded like used cars. Cheap essay writing services offer help on Do androids dream of electric sheep. Philip K Dick. On a more philosophical level, the world of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is like our world in that it has existentialist themes because it questions what it is to be human by examining different kinds of self awareness. The novel provides its own methods of classification for humanness and then purposefully disturbs those precepts so that the reader may query their own definitions about what it is to be human and accordingly, who they believe to be valuable and who is not.

Like our world, the novel defines what is human in a culturally subjective way. Apart from the obvious difference, that humans are organically born and androids created, the novel defines humans according to their ability to feel empathy for others. We know that they characterize humans by their ability to show empathy because the machine they use to prove authentic humanness does so by measuring empathic reactions to a series of emotional scenarios. According to the test, an example of a proper human response is the repulsion to the idea of eating meat, which is an interesting cultural question. It is making the statement that morality is purely subjective. It is very important for those in Dicks world to show that they have empathy to others and are therefore human by taking care of an animal. Also, in order to feel human they can fuse with Wilbur Mercer, and experience others, with is another example of empathy as proof of humanness. An extra explanation of what it is to be human according to the novel is a being that is self-deterministic and not preprogrammed, complete with false memories.

Both the characters of the novel and we treat certain humans differently. A classification that is neither human nor android is for those who are "special" (genetically damaged), like John Isodore. In our world, some people with genetic mental disabilities are discouraged from having children and many believe that they should be sterilized. Humans are often not comfortable with those who have an outstanding flaw. Nor do humans show much empathy for these people. John Isodores loneliness and social isolation is an all too common truth of our world.

In the novel, and in our real life, the boundaries that make someone human or not human are not rational or clear. At the same time as setting those characterizations of human beings, the novel intentionallyeaks those conventions so that ultimately, the similarities outweigh the differences by far. Human beings could be mistaken for androids. An example of an event in the novel where humans are like androids is when Deckard and his wife use the mood organ. If the very basis of their being human is that they have spontaneous emotion, the electric mood organ surely interferes with their humanity. Also, the mood enhancer as an object is not entirely alien to our world. Mood altering prescription drugs are used in our culture regularly as a method for people to escape their despair.

As animals, and people that are alien to us are often the same, androids can also be mistaken for humans in the novel. At many times throughout the novel androids show human characteristics. The fact that they want to rebel and seek a better life is self-determining behavior rather than programmed into them. The most lifelike androids up to date were called nexus, which means link (macquarie dictionary68) That meant that that model of android symbolized the "missing link" between androids and humans. Also the nexus 6 androids of the novel are a link because they occupy the space between the boundaries of what it is to be human or not. Also there are examples whereby androids do show empathy for others. One of these is when Rob Baty screamed out in pain when his partner was killed. The rebel androids did care about the welfare of the group.

The confusion about what is human and valuable and what is not is also very much a problem in our world. For example, Nazi Germany dehumanized Jews, as did European settlers to Australian aboriginals. Even right now, in our time and culture there are people in Australian detention centers who are treated inhumanely. The attitudes behind these atrocities are satirized in the novel when an advertisement for colonization refers to the days of slavery in Southern America as halcyon. (Dick.p16) Often our treatment of animals involves separating ourselves from their emotions.

We sometimes justify our actions by ignoring the self-awareness of others and objectifying them, as though they were androids. Thus we can set double standards. Those double standards are represented in the novel by humans caring for electric sheep in their leisure hours and desiring affection and sexual connection androids yet killing them for a living.

In reality no-one can truly understand what the minds of others is about, just as Deckard cannot decide what thoughts make someone human. It is a fact, that just as androids are deprived of human rights in the novel, so are many people and animals not given their rights in our world. In the novel, the real reason that it happens is because the people are afraid and that is the same in our world too. The people are afraid that the androids will become superior to them and also they have to be different to androids to maintain their identity.

Another way that Deckards world mirrors our own is by the similarities of the cult religions between each world, The cult religions of the novel are divided by the followers of Wilbur Mercer (humans) and the followers of Buster Friendly (androids). Wilbur Mercer is a Christ-like figure because he is self sacrificing for the good of humanity. He is also a little bit like the Greek legendary hero Sisyphus, who is condemned to repeatedly push a rock up a mountain as punishment for his craving for life. Just as the absurd plight of Sisyphus represented the struggles of life that we all share, so does Wilbur Mercer.

It is interesting that the name "Mercer" sounds like mercantile and mercenary, which is what characterizes humans weather real or in the novel. Creating the androids in the first place to be so self-aware and to have emotions is an extreme mercenary act. They are created so that the corporations can make money without any care given to what misery they are bound to encounter. The question is, why do the consumers want the androids to be so like humans? Perhaps is about having power over another? Buster Friendly is like a hero to the androids because he is an android and he exposes Wilbur Mercer, who is responsible for some of the persecution that they suffer.

In conclusion, I do not agree with Halmgren that Science fictional worlds are necessarily different from our own. Although there may be some differences, the things thating meaning to the genre of science fiction are those things that are the same. The science fictional world created by Phillip K Dick in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is different from our world because it is set in the future after an ecological disaster but the humans have not changed a bit. They are still politically dysfunctional as they are socially motivated purely by materialism and greed. They are still unreasonable, confused creatures that have no understanding for others. Just as the mistreatment of those who are different from us, and the practical slavery of animals are parts of our world, the humans of the future created by Dick have still not learnt toeak down cultural boundaries and live at peace with others.

Professional debit management firms establish long-term relationships with corporations that may need outsourcing to provide services that enhance their cash receivables. By doing so, the firm can focus on other aspects of their clients needs and not on management of cash flow. One corporation that leads the industry in outsourcing is Creditek. The focus of Creditek is to improve financial performance through quality principles. They strive to provide immediate improvement in receivable performance and create deduction resolutions to enhance profit ability. Their goal is to increase a firms revenue and decrease their losses. John Metzger, founder and President of Creditek, organized this corporation to assist companies as they recapture profits and working capital frozen in the order-to-cash cycle.

Since 18, Creditek has been a key factor in helping their clients process customer claims, enhance cash flow performance, and reduce business process cost. They have succeeded in generating hundreds of millions of dollars to their clients cash flow annually. Other services provided are exception management and revenue cycles consulting. Exception management deals with customers pricing issues, returned goods, and shortages caused by the client. Expedited correctly, exception management issues can be the best way to keep a happy customer-client relationship. Revenue cycle consulting deals with the collections process, claims management, accounts receivable performance, and profits. The revenue cycle consulting is so instrumental because it increases the firms stream of cash flow and working capital.

Creditek services Fortune 1000 sized firms in the United States as well as international firms in Europe and Latin America. Their growth is achieved by networking with existing clients to add numerous prospects from other industries. Having offices nationwide and seven hundred fifty employees, Creditek enhances their clients receivable performance by cutting operation costs. This includes deduction management, invoice collection, credit decision, and preparation of systems conversion.

Creditek is not a publicly traded company. Companies such as General Atlantic Partners LLC, the worlds largest equity firm, invests substantial amounts of money in companies in need of strategic assistance. General Atlantic Partners LLC, invested $0 million dollars in Creditek on May 14, 001. These funds were issued to help Creditek complete technology expansion and ensure rapid growth of the order-to-cash cycle segment of global business outsource markets. Creditek focuses on quality and client financial performance. Being the industries largest accounts receivable company leaves little room for competitors. Companies such as Pyramid and IAB are working towards increasing client prospects. As of now, both companies focus on improving their clients cash flow and net worth. All three companies have a common goal, to help each of their clients create a solution to reclaim substantial amounts of written-off revenue. But neither company can compare to the many clients Creditek services throughout the country. Their consulting and outsource clientele include 00 of the Fortune 1000 consumer goods, services, high-technology, and manufacturing firms. Lets face the facts Creditek is the leader in providing superior client services to companies in need of financial solutions. One on-site company, which deals with Creditek, is Thomas and Betts. Thomas and Betts is located at 8155 T&B Blvd. In Memphis, Tn. Thomas and Betts is a distribution company that provides many goods and services to different businesses throughout the country. Our current position at this site is to create a sensible strategy to restructure their finance into becoming a net gain. Our goal and mission is to provide the most innovative way to decrease their overall expenses for their account receivables department and increase their net worth. We specialize in creating a zero tolerance for their account balancing and the exchange of monies and products and services.

Our structure of process is divided into two primary working teams. Each group for both areas is divided into two sections of operational functions. One group is primarily responsible for analyzing and gathering the incoming deductions, receipts, and checks. This group is called the ongoing team. The other section is responsible for applying and researching the credit or deduction. This group is called the functional team. As a group and team we all work together and have been able to decrease Thomas and Betts accounts receivables by over ninety percent. This shows the company that not only will we help with their bottom line but we also have organization behavior skills. Organization Behavior is the field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organization, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organizations effectiveness. As workers or students, we all have experienced conflict and problems in a work or group setting. Although conflict is a natural and acceptable occurrence in the work setting, our goal is to learn and seek effective ways to solving conflict as well as preventing it. Communication is a very important tool to resolving conflict. It will allow us to exchange information, receive and understand each other. The key to finding and implementing solutions is to first identify the problem, communicate the problem, listen to the problem, respond to the problem, and last but not least, solve the problem. Its evident that people will always work and interact together to insure an effective turnout.

The ongoing team is set in groups by regions and alpha sections. Each person has a specific company they work with and have to distribute accounts in alphabetical order. The analysts accounts are divided among four individuals, Employee A, B, C, and D. However, the work structure is divided into two processes, 1) two team members made the calls and follow-up status on accounts, ) two team members receive, gather, and matched all incoming data for deductions. The accounts are divided into section of alphabets A-L and M-Z. Using this process prevents a backlog. Their goal is to complete and clear old accounts from the beginning to the end as well as establishing a current status on all accounts.

At the beginning of the newly structured teams, we were all told that eventually each person would become a full-based full-time receiver of unidentified items. As we were told, the change did occur and the process was implemented. Each person is responsible for their section of alphabets, and one major account. There were some different views and insights regarding the change, however, working as an analyst from the beginning, I thought the change was great and would definitely be more effective in meeting the companys goal.

This change affected the bottom line of Thomas and Betts cash receivables net income. Since our job is based on collecting all invalid deductions, it is imperative that all attempts to collect a debt have been used before write off is recommended. After all prudent efforts have been failed, deductions that cannot be validated or cannot be collected are recommended for write off. We assure Thomas and Betts that before write offs are recommended that all deductions have been research and are fully supported by hard copy files. Working at Creditek for the past two years has raised a question in my mind about the mind-set of Creditek as a company. While Creditek thrives on excellence and perfection with their on-site company, why do they not focus on the importance of employee satisfaction also?

The Problem

Creditek has a growing issue with the retention of their employees. Turnover is costly and disruptive, and has lasting strain on a company and its employees. This can limit its ability to compete effectively in todays business climate. The United States Department of Labor estimates the cost of employee turnover at one-third of the annual salary of the newly hired person. Costs include lost productivity while the position is vacant, recruiting and screening costs, interview costs, training costs, and the cost of reduced efficiency as the new employee learns the job.
