Around my tenth birthday we moved into a the first house built in a new gated coummunity. Since we lived in the only completely built one, there we always construction workers around, as a result at lunch time a beat up 78 Chevy would come with a hot tacos and sandwiches. I always yearned bite into one of the juicy taco that the workers so liked so much; however my mother never let touch them as their sanitary standards were probably on par with my dogs. One day when by mom was off grocery shopping, I rebelliously bought a tasty taco. I tore through the foil and sunk my teeth into the tender beef; I immensely enjoyed every last bite the meal. Unfortunately, everything went down hill from there. Later that day I started to throw up ubiquitously, and my stomach hurt so bad that Ii could not go to sleep that night. I suffered dehydration from vomiting since I could not hold anything down. I seriously felt as if was about to die. My mom had to take me to the doctor, who said it was probably food poisoning, but to treat me he need to know what my last meal was; there for I had to tell my mom the truth about the taco. She was upset that I had not told her earlier, but she did not punish me, for my sickness was more effective than any punishment she could have devised. My sickness eventually passed after three of the worst days of my life. I could not go to school for three days, and the make-up work last me a week, a fact which resulted in my having to take three tests the day before the quarter ended along with a colossal amount of stress. The entire incident helped me understand an important life lesson, always listen to what my parents say.

The history of foreign language teaching in Norway is not very long in a historical perspective. About a hundred years ago most Norwegians had little or no need to be able to communicate with people who spoke another language. The case today is very different. Kids who grow up in 00 hardly know what it is like to be a member of a small community without many opportunities of communication with other language groups. The kids of our time are born and raised to be citizens of the world geographically, racially, politically and language-wise. Not only is our country now inhabited by people from all over the world, but media, technology and travel habitsing the world to us - and us to the world. This makes the demand for good communication skills in at least one foreign language stronger and more appearent than some decades ago. Our Norwegian languge is such a small lingual community that the knowledge of a second language is decisive for us to be able to communicate and interact with other cultures. The cooperation across the borders of countries and cultures is constantly increasing, and the need to be proficient in a world language is strong. The probabilty of our pupils somewhere in the near future working in a field where good language skills are required, is so definite that we have to take this challenge seriously and make an effort to find out how language is best taught.

It is my experience and understanding that in our country, many English lessons may have looked somewhat like this

1. Listen to a text (on a tape, or now usually a CD) Cheap essay writing services offer help on The Teaching of English - as a Foreign Language . Answer questions about what happened in the text

. Write down words in your glossary

4. Practice reading and translating the text

5. Memorize words

6. Word test in class

7. Read and translate text loudly in class

8. Listen to new text

. Write down new words........ etc. etc.

In addition to this reproductional pattern, the teaching of grammar has been important. All pupils should know the patters of I am, you are........, I was, you were......, my-mine, your-yours, his .......etc. I do not say that this teaching pattern is necessarily wrong, but I do not think that all pupils are able to communicate well in English after going through this teaching for some years. I think that this teaching method helped us learn a lot of new words and to be aware of the grammatical errors we risked doing when producing texts ourselves.

Fortuneately, the teaching methods of 00 have developed and changed into the better, and many English teachers have seen the importance of allowing the pupils to be active in their own language learning. Reading the English part of L7 we repeatedly find "the ability to communicate in English". In this plan, the main goal is not to prevent the students from doing grammatical errors, but to enable them to use the English language in a practical way. When M 74s intention was to avoid all mistakes by strong guidance from the teacher, M 87 wanted "the pupils to develop a constructive attitude towards lingual errors. Instead of being afraid of mistakes, they have to understand that they can learn from their mistakes."

L 7 goes even further, and simply states that lingual errors often are a sign of learning progess. It also claims that the best way to learn a language, is to use it. From the beginning of language learning, which probably is even prior to first grade, the knowledge and experience of each child form the basis of their language learning. Through activities and interaction they can further develop their language skills.

The idea of communicative language learning has grown to be strong in the English teaching of our time. The pupils have to be given opportunitues to use the language as they interact with others. Using the language for real communication is meaningful. Answering questions to texts which are more or less of no interest, is not to be defined as meaningful, whereas sharing information, discussing points of view, talking about fields of interest is meaningful. As the students interact with fellow students, teachers and others, they will become aware of their own language patterns and learn from other role models. Using the language actively and receiving guidance through communicating with others, will help the learner overcome obstacles, make progress and become more independent. The teachers part in this way of teaching and learning a foreign language is to accomodate learning situations where the students are exposed to language both written and spoken, and subsequently use the language actively in communication. The teacher is no longer the dominant actor in the classroom, but a guide and counsellor.

As part of a meaningful approach to English learning, the use of authentic texts is an important feature of the subject as presented in L7. On all levels the children should be presented to texts in different genres. This versatile selection of texts is supposed to function as inspiration, a source of curiousity and models for the learners. Through authentic texts learners can aquire competence within most of the components of communicative ability. Authentic texts are meningful rolemodels in the learning of lingual and grammatical issues. Authentic texts can teach us something about how the language we use in one given situation is different from what we would use in another setting. The lingual features of different societies and cultures can be taught through texts, and obviously the ability to comprehend textual context in different genres. Authentic texts are an important feature of the teaching of English in Norway today, as well as in many other countries. Texts from English speaking countries not only act as rolemodels for the students owb writing, but also gives a good insight into other cultures . Through literature our Norwegian learnes can learn to comprehend the differences between our culture and the way people in other coutries live.

Having worked as a teacher for ten years now, I have to say that in my opinion many teachers use a long time to establish teaching methods according to new ideas and principles. Unfortuneately, I believe that there still are a lot of English teachers working "by the book" that is not according to the principles laid in L7, but by the English textbook and their preceding practice. In order to work according to L7 and the communicative approach we have to implement the ideas of the teacher as a creative organizer of learning situations, where the pupils are allowed to use their own knowledge in meaningful activities. As the pupils become more aware of their own language skills we enable them to develop and become good communicaters in a world language. A good English teaching practice includes a lot of learning for the students through guidance and councelling from the teacher, interaction, a selection of authentic and meaningful texts and a strong emphasis on communication. When our students experience the joy of discovering, exploring and using the language in a creative learning environment, we have reason to believe that the same students will find their own language skills to be assets in further education and real-life situations.

Order your Hail House paper at affordable prices! Everyone has at least one experience in their lifetime that changes their outlook on life, their appreciation for what they have, and them as a whole. For me, that experience occurred last Christmas when my family and I visited Hale House. Hale House, which was established by Mother Hale in 17, is a non-profit organization that helps children whose mothers cannot care for them. I had read about Hale House on the internet in November and I decided to tell my parents about it and suggested that we take a trip there when it got closer to the holiday season. From the beginning of November to the middle of December we collected toys, books, food, clothing, games, and many other things to give to the children when we went. Our living room was filled with bags upon bags of gifts for the children we would soon visit. On December 15th we loaded up the car and drove into the city. That day changed my life forever and no matter what, I know that I will never forget it. Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to see and what I was about to live that day. Visiting Hale House demonstrated character, service, and leadership. But most importantly, it gave me a new appreciation for life.

One quality that I demonstrated by going to Hale House was character. Character is who you are as a person, your values, and what is important to you. I feel that going to Hale House enriched my character very much. It made it easier for me to relate to people and for me to interact and be with children. These children had been through so many hard times in their lives yet they were completely open to the idea of spending the day with a complete stranger. Being with these children for the day made me see that even though they had so little, they still had such an appreciation for us being there and for all the small things in life. I feel that it made me more well rounded as a person and that it taught me kindness and compassion. Most importantly, it showed me that despite what I may believe there is a world outside of my mine and that not everyone is as fortunate as I am. Hail House bettered my character and taught me things that I thought I would never learn.

Another quality that was demonstrated through this event was service. When you provide a service to someone you are doing something that helps others. Going to Hale House was a service because I helped those in need and those less fortunate. I was able to make them smile anding joy into those childrens lives. I did something to benefit others and I saw that giving is so much better than getting. Sometimes you give and what you get out of it is so much better than you could have ever imagined it to be. I learned that when you give with an open heart the rewards are amazing. I provided a service to the children and I helped those in need.

The last quality that I demonstrated through this experience was leadership. Leadership is taking initiative, doing something positive, organizing an event, and motivating others. I did all of these things through Hale House. I organized the trip that my family would take and I found the organization we would visit. I took the initiative and motivated everyone in my family to go and to collect things toing with us. Going there also helped motivate the children anding some happiness to them. I took on the role of leadership by organizing, motivating, and helping others. Visiting Hale House was a life changing experience for me. I was doing something for the benefit of others and at the same time I was learning things that only that experience could have taught me. That day at Hale House taught me kindness, compassion, and respect. I demonstrated character, service, and leadership in the process. I was given an entirely new appreciation for life and I stopped taking the little things for granted. It made me believe that the only way to truly help oneself is to help others.

Order your Issac Newton's Laws of motion paper at affordable prices! Newtons first Law An object will remain at rest, or in motion, unless acted on by a force.

Newtons second Law Force = mass over acceleration

Newtons first and second law has an important connection to the egg mobile assessment task. Newtons first law tells us that an object will remain at rest or in motion unless acted on by a force. In the experiment, a box of some sort will be dropped metres in hight with a raw egg inside. There are limited resources that can be used ie

sum Papersum Cardboard

sum Polystyrene

sum Plastic

sum Rubber

sum Matches

sum Wood

sum Drinking straws

sum String

sum Cotton

sum Rubber bands

sum Sticky tape

sum Glue

With these resources, I have to make a mobile vehicle that is safe for the egg to be dropped withouteaking.

To use Newtons first law to protect my egg I will use elastic bands, wood, and a cardboard box to save my egg fromeaking. The elastic bands will hold the egg in the middle of the cardboard box the egg not touching any walls. Cotton balls will be all around the egg to protect it when the box hits the ground with force. The egg should bounce a fraction but the cotton ball should soften the bounce and save the egg fromeaking.

Newtons second law will help me because if the force equals mass over acceleration, I know that the lighter my experiment is, the slower it will fall.

Sir Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton was born on the 5th of January 164 in Woolsthorpe Lincolnshire,

England. His father was a farmer but died months before Isaac was born. His mother remarried a wealthy elderly clergyman from the next village when Isaac was three. She went and lived with the man in the other village leaving Isaac in his grandmothers hands. He was picked a scholar, guaranteeing him four years of financial support in 1664. The plague was spreading through Europe at that time and reached Camidge in summer 1665. Newton returned home for two years where he concentrated on problems in physics and mathematics as the University closed.

In 1684, Newtons opponent Robert Hooke meet up with two members of the Royal society and as Hookeagged about how he knew the laws controlling the motion of the heavenly bodies, one of the members was not satisfied with his explanation. Christopher Wren h offered a prize to anyone whom could solve the puzzle. Edmond Halley, the other member, was a friend of Newtons, who took the problem to him. Halley asked how the planets would move if there was a force of attraction between bodies that weakened as the square of the distance.. Halley was astonished when Newton answered straight away saying in ellipses. Halley asked in disbelief how he knew that. Newton answered simply l have calculated it. Newton then told Halley all of what he had learnt throughout the years where the plague has forced him to stay in the country. Halley then pursued Newton to write a book which he did. It was called Philosophiae Principia Mathematica.

In 166 Newton became a professor of mathematics. In early 167 Newton was elected to the Royal society. He published a book Principia Mathematica in 1687 that demonstrated his laws of motion and theories of gravitation.

Much happened for the next 40 years, some including being a Member of Parliament served of master of mint, publishing his theory of light, but on March 0th 177 Newton died at the age of 85.

Problems solutions

1 The first problem that occurred was that the eggoke! Itoke because there wasnt enough support for the egg and either did any of the other things I planed for its safety. I then decided to make a new sort of vehicle.

My first vehicle that failed

It failed because when the vehicle

hit the ground, the egg wasnt

protected enough . Next time I

will protect it more

My second vehicle that failed

This failed because the egg

kept falling out of the elastic

bands. It did this because there

wasnt enough friction to hold

the egg still.

My third vehicle succeeded

This vehicle succeeded

because the egg couldnt move

and therefore was saved from

eaking. I put elastics around

the egg as well as to hold it up.

Another one of the problems I had with my vehicle was itoke. It was a shoebox (made out of cardboard).

The problem was that my elastics where too tight and caused the box to cave in.

Because my shoebox had completelyoken I had to think of a new box I could use that would be stronger and dependable.

My solution was to use a flower box which was a lot thicker and stronger.

My other problem was that the egg would still move too much while being held by the elastics.

My solution was to place elastic around the egg so when it tried to move the elastic holding it in the box would stop it. This is because when the egg tried to mover the elastic bands rubbed up against the other bands creating friction, which held the egg in place.

Order your Annas Story paper at affordable prices! I have currently been reading a number of biographies and believe that there are many values to be gained. This idea came to me after reading the biography on Annas life, which is about how Anna died from an ecstasy tablet that she chose to take.

When reading a biograph a reader can pick up on the mistakes a character makes. These may not always be mistakes and may even be achievements that a character has made within a biography. Unfortunately in Annas story, Anna wood, made the mistake of taking drugs. This led her eventual death because of a "bad" e. Such facts will make the reader more aware of mistakes in his or her life, so that the reader can learn from the mistakes.

From reading a biography because a reader can pick up on mistakes that a character makes, and can understand and act upon those mistakes. Annas story focused on the mistake that teenagers are making when they take drugs. A biography can give detailed facts on the drug issues, and then these issues can be applied to todays teenage group. The author of Annas story hopes you learn from Annas mistake that cost her, her life, so that you dont make the same mistake.

Through the reading of texts you can gain knowledge but thought the reading of a biography you can gain knowledge about real characters so that u can apply their mistakes to you day-to-day life. This may and will help you have a better understanding and a higher experience in a number of day-to-day areas. This will help you know how to react and act in tight situations too. An example of this is in Annas story, when Anna became sick after having an ecstasy tablet. Now that I have read Annas story, if I get in a situation like Anna was in I will react by going straight to the hospital instead of what happened to Anna. Quote " if Anna wasought in a few hours yearly they might have even been able to save her". Biography texts are based upon real facts. They are not make up, and are reincarnations of true facts events and issues. This is factual information that is being presented to the reader and isnt merely made up. Because of this we can know that what we are learning is true and it actually happened. Annas story is true, and so the fact that she died from an ecstasy tablet. It is the truth about this issue that scared us and this truth that makes biographies a valuable resource for information.

"An eye for an eye makes the world go blind"

Order your "An eye for an eye makes the world go blind" paper at affordable prices! "An eye for an eye makes the world go blind." Discuss in relevance to recent events.

Two guys were always engaged in bitter rivalry. The cause for this rivalry a girl. Both these guys fought against one another to get the eventually the luckier one won her heart. But the ill fortuned one didnt give up. He mind started working as crookedly as it could. He thought of a devious scheme to dispose of his foe. He had a grandly sinister plan. One day, he set out to accomplish his plan.

The next day morning, the entire media was buzzing. The news of a person being murdered was always a cause for publicity. The murdered, not surprisingly was the lucky man. Forensic examinations revealed that he had been poisoned. All evidence pointed towards the ill fortuned man. His motive was extremely conspicuous. He was trialed, found to be guilty, and was sentenced to capital punishment. The only one left in tears was the girl.

Such is the tragic end to any story beleaguered with revenge and malice. Nor do people learn from such stories. In this context also pertinent is the saying "An eye for an eye makes the world go blind." I pluck your one eye out and in retaliation you gouge one of mine out. I go for the second round of fire and pull out your last eye. You, overwhelmed with fury, and remove my last eye. The end result two blind people. I fear that that is only the surface meaning of a metaphorical quote which has so much to teach us. If one might remember, the infamous quote mentioned above was said by the venerable Mahatma Gandhi when he saw the atrocities committed during the partition in 147. India was divided into India and Pakistan based Muslims and Hindus (The people belonging to these religions can be seen as an allusion to the two eyes). The Muslims would take part in incursions into Hindu territory and cause disruption and the Hindus would also do likewise. Riots were frequent and many families were left distraught. (The families insinuate blindness).

This question over the relevance of this quote can to be seen as one of optimum importance. Not that there is an escalated level of people quibbling over one another because of jealousy and malice. One can look at the quote at two levels. One is the personal level of which I have given an example earlier on. The second is at an international level. What appeals to me and is more pertinent in todays current affairs of the world is the latter.

"An eye for an eye makes the world go blind." In todays world nothing is stable. Erratic economy is but one thing. Peoples corrupt mind work in perverted ways to terrorize or to reach pinnacles of power. And then there are the other few who wish to eliminate such evil. Even the superpowers such as US anditain fail to recognize the evocative nature of Mahatma Gandhis quote. Not only them but also do the vast counties under dictatorship. Countries fight for material procession and also for land. Two classic examples that have arisen in the past and which still present a plethora of issues are worth noting.

One of them is undoubtedly the US War in Iraq. Mr. Bush had clearly stated that his intentions for waging a war in Iraq were to root out the Baath party and toing an end to Saddam Husseins regime. Also, he had a strong feeling that Iraq had alleged links with the Al Qaeda terrorist group. He had also received intelligence that Iraq was responsible for the production of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). He has also receiveditish intelligence that Iraq solicited for significant amounts of Uranium from the countries in Africa to advance with its nuclear program. However, deeper to these reasons, one can not also dismiss the fact that this war was about petroleum and that Mr. George W. Bush was making attempts in securing and completing what his father set out to do ten years ago. So, Mr. Bush Junior amassed all the military power he could and attacked Iraq to oust the dictatorship and crush any insurgents. Alas! Mr. Bush has not yet succeeded. With the recent evidence showing that Iraq had no connection with any African country over the sale of Uranium, one begins to wonder whether Mr. Bush falsified statements to swing in his favor. Cynics and detractors can also draw fresh ammunition from the fact that no trace of a single WMD has been found in Iraq. Whats worse? Polls recently revealed that Americans trusted pop start Eminens lyrics more than Mr.Bushs words. Doesnt this all hint that the real intention is to usurp the oil supplies in Iraq? The peace keeping processes could be but an excuse not to draw to much attention.

And intention it might be, but Mr. Bush is no where near to getting his hands on it. With the war declared officially over nearly months, coalition troops were optimistic about a return back home. But no. As each day unfurls attacks on the coalition keep mounting as does the death toll. Also, the cost for the war which was estimated by secretary of defense, Mr. Donald Rumsfeld, earlier at billion per month has now totally . billion. The tables have been turned around and now Mr. Bush now finds the odds on him. He pulled an eye out and is having one of his pulled out now. More worrying for him is that the general elections are to be held next year and the question of whether the choice of going to war was a right one will erupt time and again. The repercussions of this war on Mr. Bush has still not reached its zenith but is slowly becoming more conspicuous. No evidence still remains as to whether Saddam Hussein is alive or not but from what we might believe he might be having a hearty laugh at Mr. Bush. "War never has positive Outcomes". Also "An eye for an eye makes the world go blind." Mr. Bush has experienced the sincerity of this quote. Hopefully he has learnt a lesson and will be sensible enough in not waging a war with North Korea.

A better example and one which will match all the criteria for the quote is the ongoing violence between Israel and Palestine. And this heated violence is not new to anyone. For over five decades, the Palestinians have fought to reclaim back what is rightly theirs. The history goes back to a period around 150 when Israel was proclaimed as its own country by the Jews, mainly because they felt that they were being oppressed by the Westerners. Because there were Palestinians and Israelis living in the same area and because they were of different religions but were still of Arab descent problems arose. The Palestinians were driven out the country and were compelled to live as refugees. Hence, the PLO was formed with its main aim being the destruction of Israel and the regaining of the land that was rightfully theirs. Over half a century has passed and we are still far away from restoring peace within both communities. Headlines such as "BOY KILLED IN SUICIDE BLAST" or "THREE KILLED IN WEST BANK THREATS POSED TO SIGNING OF NEW PEACE TREATY" have become customary but still cause great concern. Many eyes are being pulled and the world is gradually going blind.

When the situation become so dire, one can not just rely on peace keepers (like Mahatma Gandhi) toing about stability. When people contemplate about the quote and achieve a sense of self realization and remove feelings of vengeance and malice from their minds, only then we will see an end to such atrocities. I wonder when I will see that day and when I can feel assured that I am in a fully secure environment.
