Based on the research done this week one of the interesting topics learned was the shifting from the Old Success Factors to the New Success Factors in organizational behavior.

Old Success Factors

For much of the twentieth century, four critical factors influenced organizational success

Size The larger the company, the more it was able to attain production or service efficiencies, leverages its capital, and put pressure on customers and supplies.Role clarity In order to get work done efficiently in larger organizations, tasks were divided and subdivided, clear distinctions were made between manager and worker, and levels of authority were clearly spelled out.

Specialization As tasks were subdivided, specialties were created or encouraged, to provide finely grained levels of expertise.

Control Given the fine distinctions between roles and specialties, most organizations, especially large ones, needed to create controls to make sure all of the pieces performed as needed, coming together properly to provide whole products or services.

New Success Factors

The advent of the microprocessor, the dizzying speed of information processing and communications, and the arrival of the global economy have conspired to radically shift the basis of competitive success. To a large extent, the old success factors have become liabilities, and the new success factors look very different from the old.

Speed Successful organizations today are increasingly characterized by speed in everything they do. They respond to customers more quickly, ing new products to market faster, and change strategies more rapidly than ever before.

Flexibility Organizations that move quickly are flexible. People do multiple jobs, constantly learn new skills, and willingly shift to different locations and assignment..

Integration Organizations that can shift directions quickly and flexible have processes that carry concepts of change into the institutional bloodstream, disseminating new initiatives quickly, and mobilizing the right resources to make thing happen.

Innovation Organizations that succeed in a world of rapid change find innovation essential. Doing todays work n todays way becomes quickly outdated.

Inside the organization that I work, the old success factors were used when the company was in the first years of existence, now we are almost succeed using the new factors, and I said almost because some division of the company still thinking the "old way".

I never thought to look an organization the way that I learned in my research. Now I can see thing happen inside the company that before I did not understand, but now make more sense to me. In addition, I will use some of the research that I found in order to accomplish my goals inside of my unit, trying to use more efficiently the tools that I already have.

Order your Background on AC Nielsen paper at affordable prices with ! AC Nielsen is the worlds leading market information company, offering worldwide services. One of these services is called Homescan. Homescan provides a similar service to Superpanel, providing insights into consumer shopping behaviour based on a panel of 10,000 households that is demographically representative. Panelists use a patented in-home scanner to record their purchases. AC Nielsen implemented a hard edge marketing strategy, approaching Superpanel clients offering a cheaper service and an attractive contract. Superpanel had already invested a substantial sum in the new panel and hi-tec technology. Therefore a loss of clientele would be detrimental and result in a loss of revenue for the division and the group (shareholders????). Superpanel decided to reassess the situation and adopt a new strategy. The quality of data is the unique selling point for Superpanel and competing on price may have had a negative affect in the long term. Instead of undercutting the service, Superpanel decided to provide clients with more data and products for the same amount of money. This was a testing time, as some clients (aware of the situation), played each agency against each other. (BARRY LEMMON)????ANDREW.. Increasing the panel benefited Superpanel but most importantly the clients. AC Nielsen will always be a direct competitor to Superpanel, but the level of this threat was not recognised sufficiently why?

The clients are consumers and therefore an important part of the business. A strategic approach in consulting clients and an involvement in the decision making process may have avoided confusion and lack of loyalty. A perfect marketing opportunity was missed to drive home the fact that Superpanel were being innovative and productive by developing a new and improved marketing tool for their customers.

Superpanel should have measured all of the options when intializing the panel increase. A SWOT analysis would have identified the threats and may have highlighted the problems that occurred (see below).

Task 5 (contd.)

In the future, clients should pay 10% of their contract towards the investment of the increased panel. This is an investment that will contribute to increased data and enabling clients to compete more effectively in the market place. At step by step update on the situation can be posted via email or sent by hard copy every month to inform clients of the procedures and any new developments taking place. A meeting should be held with all clients attending to provide a platform to air opinions on the proposed increased fees and panel. For those clients that do not attend, detailed minutes would be sent out.

I.Synopsis

"Hope for the Flowers", by Trina Paulus was an inspirational story of a caterpillar and a journey to find more in life. The story is about two caterpillars, Stripe and Yellow who believe that there must be more to life. They go on desperate search for the "more". They end up being separated by different needs. Stripe needs to know what is at the top and will not stop until he does. However, Yellow doesnt feel that getting to the top was worth all it asked to get there. She knew there must be a better way. She finally stumbles upon how. She has to become a butterfly. Its a hard decision though, because you have to surrender to the cocoon to become a butterfly. She does just that, and becomes a beautiful butterfly. She goes to find Stripe and lets him know that he has what it takes inside to become the "more" he has been looking for. He is convinced and becomes a beautiful butterfly himself. In the end, sometimes you have to look deep inside yourself to find the "more" in your life.

II. Character SketchProfessional writers help on Hope for the Flower-analysis essays The two main characters, in "Hope for the Flowers", are Stripe and Yellow, two caterpillars on a journey. Stripe believes there must be more than just eating to life. Even though he hates the climbing he just cant resist the impulse to find out what is at the top. He doesnt care what it takes or how long. He is willing to do it to get higher. In the end, he realizes he was mistaken. Yellow the other main character is just as eager to get high as Stripe is. However, she realizes that no matter what the pillar is not the way. Even though she doesnt know the right way she still journeys on to find it. Yellow realizes long before Stripe that fighting is no way to reach your goal.

III. Critique

I personally loved this book. It had so many deeper meanings than just two caterpillars looking for a way to fly. I learned that even though I might not know a way to become "more", it doesnt mean that one doesnt exist. I also learned that getting to the top doesnt require me to step on anyone else to get there and sometimes I might have to succumb to the cocoon to become a butterfly.

-- Claudette Colvin, sixteen, Montgomery federal court, May 11, 156

On the morning of December 5, 155, the black citizens of Montgomery, Alabama, inaugurated a year-long boycott of the racially segregated city buses. That afternoon, the boycott leaders elected Martin Luther King Jr., twenty-sixyear-old pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, as president of the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA), which they formed to direct the protest. Although King did not start the bus boycott, he grasped its significance at once. Chosen more because of existing leadership divisions than his own perceived strengths, he confidently took charge. When the mass protest persevered against unrelenting pressures from city hall, county courts, and white extremists, King emerged as a national and international symbol of the African American freedom struggle and was emaced by white and black media alike. While newspapers and magazines promoted an image of the young Baptist preacher as the bus boycotts prime mover, he acted within aoad structure of grassroots leadership that had been preparing the ground for black community mobilization long before he arrived in the Cradle of the Confederacy.

Founded in 181 and designated the Alabama capital in 1847, the city in the heart of the fertile Black Belt in the southern half of the state sat on a bluff overlooking the winding Alabama River. Montgomery had served as a center for cotton marketing and slave auctions before the Civil War. In Feuary 1861 ex-MississippisenatorJefferson Davis chaired a meeting in Montgomery of white leaders from six southern states, including Alabama, that had decided to secede from the Union. I am currently a Cost Accounting Supervisor with Matsushita Avionics in Lake Forest. Im very good at what I do and have never felt that not having a degree, or much college at all has ever held me back. I have held positions as Accounting Manager and Controller in the past. I actually took a great deal of pride in the fact that I had gotten this far completely on my own, without that piece of paper. My career goal or challenge was always to see what leave I could achieve next without a degree.

Recently, as our department grows with the addition of degreed accountants, that I may have skills close to or equal to theirs, but they possess many skills that I dont have. Some of the areas where they excel and I am lacking are communication skills, organizational skills, presentation, and professionalism. I believe that these are the skills that can only come from attending college and getting a degree. In my company, and most other companies today, without these skills you cant go too far. Though we probably have similar levels of accounting knowledge and skills, their degree is very evident.

The long term goal I have set for myself at the University of Phoenix is to get my degree. Though I have only just started the time and commitment that is necessary to complete this program is obvious and somewhat overwhelming, but Im committed to completing the program and graduating. Once I have completed my degree, my career is the next goal. Of course I would like to make more money, but just as important to me is to have an exciting posit that will challenge me. By a applying the newly acquired skills with my vast experience, I believe I can achieve my goal College papers on Personal Goals

Order your FATE IN ROMEO AND JULIET paper at affordable prices! One view of the play sees Romeo and Juliet as victims of fate. Do you agree with this? Having a complex plot, and too many deeply involved characters, I cannot simply say that Romeo and Juliet were purely victims of fate. The tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet, and the play itself, are based on four ideas that of fate, love, fueds, and violence. Fate contributed, though it was not the sole factor in the deaths of the young lovers. But fate did carry most of the plot because it is the reason for many events.

Fate may have also had it that Friar John was unable to deliver the important message to the banished Romeo. These key events, among others, have reinstated the role of fate past the prologue. Fate by the stars, is given to us a factor in Romeo and Juliets deaths. Another look at the play being determined by the stars sees Romeo trying to alter fates destructive path Is it een so? Then I defy you, stars!, Romeo exclaims, saying that fate has played role enough; he will dictate what is to come. Once inside the tomb with Juliet, Romeo again challenges fate Will I set up my everlasting rest, or shake the yoke of inauspicious stars. Even as the stars supposedly hold the fate of Romeo and Juliet, the families of Montague and Capulet still have much to contribute. Once again, the prologue introduces us to fate, this time from a family perspective. From ancient grudgeeak to new mutiny…From forth the fatal loins of these two foes… Here we are again given the thought that Romeo and Juliet are destined to die, and that the nasty feud between their families has a major part to play. Especially by using the word from, it tells us that as a result of the two quarreling families, there is destined to be a death toll.

The role of fate in their families plans and histories, and by the stars, is shown in many instances, saying that the deaths of Romeo and Juliet may have been predetermined and unavoidable.
