Which is why it isnt uncommon for her to take her lunch in the kitchen with Sydney while Ondine cooks for the white couple. She has a very diverse role when it comes to relating to the people within the house. Although everyone is very aware of her race they surpass her color and focus more on her individuality more than her race.
Although, Jadine co-exists very well within the confines of the island, American society doesnt know how to view her. The white society acknowledges her beauty and her intellect bit still views her as middle class because of her race. On the other hand, black society views her as a race traitor because she doesnt give back to her cultural community.
