Order your Assertivness Training paper at affordable prices! I am so very thankful that I registered for this course because I have learned such a priceless amount of knowledge ranging everywhere from resolving

Conflict, keeping calm, centering and relaxation responses to the therapeutic powers of the act of writing. All of us, as human beings and as citizens of a free country, have certain inalienable rights- from those guaranteed by law, such as freedom of speech and the right to a due process of laws, to the more subtle rights to stand up for our views or to act in our own best interest. In our everyday life, we are often confronted with situations that violate, or at least threaten, some of our rights. Assertiveness is standing up for my own rights without infringing upon the rights of others. It is self-enhancing, generating positive feelings toward myself and others, and it leads to smooth interpersonal relationships. Personally speaking, being an individual in desperate need of assertiveness training, I am quite aware of the ramifications of non-assertive consequences. The inability to experience adequate assertiveness training skills prior to learning this course, I have experienced regret, guilt, sorrow, indecisiveness, in situations that did not call for such reactions. I found myself being victimized, manipulated into circumstances that if I had used the assertive techniques of standing firm in my responses, following my own inner intuition, the end result would have been that I would be a healthier, happier person.

I found a great amount of personal achievement and satisfaction when we practiced our assertive techniques by role-playing various situations. It completely empowered me with the awareness that the shy, quiet, non-assertive behavior that I had become accustomed to was definitely ready to be terminated. I am now in the process of actively implementing and restructuring my attitude, correcting my Old Habits of always giving up my rights, saying yes, (WHEN I MEAN NO!) , and giving up those negative self-defeating behaviors that prevent me from asserting my very own interpersonal rights.

I found this course to be extremely rewarding because it offered immediate relief to responding accurately, efficiently toward various changing circumstances. I discovered that I should not have to feel guilty if I feel that my rights, decisions, and opinions are being infringed upon because without learning the assertive techniques I many times find myself getting taken advantage of.

College Essays on Assertivness Training

I particularly appreciate the positive reinforcement that it was perfectly normal to implement the various assertive skills necessary during conversation and communication.

By using the responsible behaviors as recommended in negative assertion, or agreeing to disagree, or perhaps, staying centered, calm, and relaxing during a confrontational circumstance, I have learned to find a workable compromise and resolve the conflict. I also discovered that by tentatively accepting constructive criticism with negative inquiry, I am capable of remaining calm, I avoid being defensive, and I avoid being manipulated by improving the communication. " Perhaps, I am , working too hard, maybe, I might follow your suggestion and change the time schedule, by restructuring my routine." The

Book that I particularly enjoyed and discovered by studying this class was a new and updated edition of the classic self-understanding through journal writing. It has completely change my life (this past week) because I never heard about journal writing until I attended the assertiveness course. The author, Christina Baldwin, provides excerpts from her own personal journal entries that encourages the reader to build confidence in their own individuality and acquire self knowledge without having to seek constant approval from others. She is the author of Lifes Companion Journal Writing as a Spiritual Quest.

College Essays on hi American Dream. This novel shows a number of characters living during the Great

Depression. They all have dreams and goals but there is always something in their way

that keeps them from achieving their goals. George, Crooks, and Curleys wife all their

own version of the American Dream in which they all find comfort.

Steinbecks novel emphasizes the loneliness and powerlessness of its characters

who must take comfort in their flimsy dreams of a better life. One of the characters who is forced to do this is George. George shares a dream with Lennie. His dream is to own a farm on a nice piece of land. Owning a farm would give George the ability to support himself, offer him protection in a hostile world and would give him the power to run his own life. Georges dream goes awry at the end of the story when he shot and killed Lennie in an unselfish act. By this time in the story George had already realized that his dream wasnt going to come true, and he tells Slim, -I think I knowed from the very first. I think I knowed wed never do her. He usta like to hear about it so much I got to thinking maybe we would. Throughout the novel George blames Lennie for not allowing him to live his dream.

Another one of John Steinbecks characters that dreams of a better life but never fulfills his or her dream is Curleys wife. Curleys wifes dream is becoming a Hollywood actress. Her mother told her she couldnt be in pictures so she obeyed her. Curleys wife claims that she was close to being chosen by a talent scout and sent out to become a movie star. Instead, the scout never got a hold of Curleys wife therefore her dream was never achieved. After she lost all hope in her dream she married Curley and started an unfulfilling marriage.

An additional character in Of Mice and Men who dreams of a better life and whose dreams never come true is Crooks. Crooks dream is to live somewhere where he truly feels he belongs. He is segregated against by the other characters in the novel. Crooks isnt even allowed to sleep and live in the same bunkhouse as the other men. Crooks opens up to Lennie and tells him of his need of belonging when he says, "A guy needs somebody to be near him. A guy goes nuts if he aint got nobody. Dont make no difference who the guy is, longs hes with you. I tell ya, I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an he gets sick Crooks uses his bad back as an excuse for not doing nearly enough to achieve his dream of living at a place where he wasnt the only black man, and to be treated as a human being. Crooks hopeless and bitter attitude is what holds him back and doesnt allow him to achieve his dream.

The fact that Jes cried demonstrates that she can let out her feelings. She was going through tough times in her life when she felt like no one could understand her. She also felt alone because her two best friends Sam and Dell were not always there for Jes. Another different emotion for Jes was happiness and joy when ¡°¡¦ She was giggling helplessly¡± (Friesen 14) playing with her friend.

Sarcastic is a word that would describe her almost perfectly as well. In this story, there are many different examples how Jes expresses herself through sarcasm and humor.

Evidently, she likes to be funny and sometimes approach matters from a sarcastic angle. When Jes and her dad went canoeing, her dad asked her if he could help her. She replied, ¡°¡¦I was thinking you could do it all¡± (Friesen). She was just joking about it. This shows that she likes joking around.

Jealousy is also a trait of Jes. Ever since she laid her eyes on Angela, she was jealous of her because Angela seemed like the perfect person to Jes. She had no faults or wrongs and she was as beautiful as a model. The thing that Jes hated most about Angela was that she was starting so pull her best friends, Sam and Dell away from her. After Angela came along, Jes felt like she could not be as good as Angela and Jes was merely nothing. When Jes and Angela went shopping for the day ¡°¡¦ shopping was tiring, but jealousy was absolutely exhausting¡± (Friesen 1). This comparison displays how bad the jealousy was for Jes. However, in the end, Angela was not how she appeared, and she was just a normal girl like Jes. Jes is a well-rounded character with many qualities. She is a good person and would be a good friend.

While researching for this essay I do have to admit a lot of the information I found on chaos theory, Mandelot set, Sierpinski triangle and many others seemed like the information that was being explained was way above me and hard for me to read and understand. Thankfully after a lot of studying and a lot of reading I am able to understand fractals for the most part. Fractals are used in our everyday life; we deal with them while at work, taking walks, the weather, and even in our math class. In the next three paragraphs I will explain how fractals take part in my life everyday, what fractal reveal about the world we live in, and how fractals play a role in math 150. After learning about fractals I now look at the world and everything in it differently.

I have learned that chaos seems to be everywhere! Myother works as a graphic designer and uses Mandelot set in many of his catchy and colorful advertisements everyday. I have never looked at any of his designs more differently than I do now. Knowing that each part of a design when looked at in a smaller scale is more and more detailed. When I do my laundry I now understand that I might set two loads of laundry on the same normal cycle with cold water but the clothing in each load inside might get washed differently than the other. All depending on were the water and soap hit the most. I am a nurse in a residential facility and many of my patients have died from cancer. To some people it might look like our patients are just old and cancer is something that happens to people that get old but if you look into there history smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol could have helped play a role in some cases.

Up until writing this report I would have said that every week that went by repeated itself. To me every week is the same. I go to school on the same days as the week before and work the same as the week before. Chaos theory reveals that my life and every one else around me form patterns in there life. I might go to school on the same days as the week before but I wont be learning the same things and it wont take the exact same time to get to school as last week. As for work I might come and go the same as last week but I wont be dealing with the same exact problems as the week before. Fractals reveal that our lives and our experiences will never be repeated they will form patterns.

Fractals play a big part in math. In order to find a certain length or demension you use fractals. There might be one right answer to geometry question but many different elements to get to that answer than one.

Order your the cask of amontillado paper at affordable prices! in our day I turned in my application to the sherman oaks castle park in sherman oaks off the 101 on sepulveda. I first acquired the application on Friday when I drove out there. You see I discovered this particular place was hiring because I looked at the job openings listing in the glendale college something or other office. I happened across this one which is titled the assistant park maintenace assistant or something like that and another one as a server at a mexican restaurant on glenoaks called casa de ramos I think. well im sure you already know how I feel about working in restaurants. I am fuckin sick of it. So I went out of my way to go to that sherman oaks castle park like I was telling you. Well… like I was saying, everything was going smoothly. I filled out the application on Friday, today is Wednesday, january , 00 like the stupid auto correction piece of shit software told me it was, and I decided that I would hold off on dating the stupid fuckin application. So… I get to the sherman oaks castle park just fine, maybe sometime around three thirty and I take the keys out of the ignition then realize I have to date the application. So I took the pen out of my pocket where it almost always is, it isnt in there if im writing with it or if im sleeping or if I forgot to put it in my pocket, and I date the stupid mother fucking piece of shit. So I get out and take the application to some mother fucker that doesnt even work at the park. as I hand it to him I ask him… you guys are hiring right? And the dude says well… I dont know… maybe the los angeles county park and recreational some mother fuckin beuarocrazy or some mother fuckin organization that fronts some do-goody mother fuckin shit but theyre really a bunch of drug dealing cannibal prostitutes. Yeah well aside from the obvious… so im like… ok great… thanks a lot… then I walk around the arcade cause you see, this place when you first drive into the parking lot theres a batting cage to the right and then there some ugly ass looking, fakeidge looking sidewalk deal that makes you think youre crossing some impassable moat but its really just some elaborate drug channeling water fountain arrangement that fronts as a miniature golf course… I swear these fucking entreprenuers are fuckinilliant, they can make fuckin baby eating cannibalism look legitimate as long as theyre wearing a burgandy polo with a mother fuckin pin that says yeah mother fucker, my name is fuckin blahblahblah and I work at fuckin the amusing parts of your asshole. Then when you get across that fuckin moving cesspool of eroding golfballs and human waste you actually enter this castle… right there when I first walked in there was this dude with a green hat some fuckin high and tight white booty shorts, sandles over socks, and a grey tank top playing this drumming game or some shit. He looks like a fuckin genius but its the fuckin tanktop that burned him down… so hes banging away at this machine with these drumsticks attached to the arcadebox with some chains and one stick is way shorter than the other maybe like three inches shorter and hes hittin this thing and his friends all excited and it looks like hes doin pretty fuckin good… so I walk right up behind him and watch him and as soon as I stop my stride… he loses… oh well fuck him. So its this arcade right through the front door then straight maybe about fifty feet from the fuckin royal gates theres the ticket prize counter… now today there there was some dude with a hat and some button up dark grey work shirt fucking a box or something… hes the one I handed my papers to so yeah… I feel pretty good cause I got that one application out of the way and I decide that im going to play some games since im here anyways and I dont really have anything to do. So im walkin around and I see ms pac man and im fuckin stoked and have a hard on… people look at my crotch but im like hell yeah bitch its fuckin ms pac man mother fucker oh yeah mmm yeah… I walk up to the fuckin machine and it says… TOKENS ONLY mother fucker… fuckin tokens only what a fuckin shithole of an arcade… fuckin twats… so I say ok fuck it ill just go home and masturbate. So I walk back to my truck eyeing some fuckin fat assoads backside so I put my hands in my pockets to give my groin an enhancement to go along with the visuals… I put my hands in and rub slowly… then I notice something… ahh shit dropped my keys in the arcade… I half turn then say wait… oh mother fucker I left them in the truck piece of shit! So look in the window and sure as a crack smoking prostitute on main st in san diego near the 5 over pass next to the navy base where that gas station is there they fuckin are… right there on the mother fuckin grey pleather seats. SON OF A BITCH!! So im getting all hot and pissed off and im walkin back into that shithole of a depressing happy fun land. I walk up to that ticket prize exchange counter thing and theres that guy fuckin the box on the ground still… then some tall buck toothed spikey haired retard of a jason timberlake lookin dyke walks up to the counter and gawks at me. I tell him, hey you got a wire hangar or some sturdy wire… hes like what the fuck? We dont have those as ticket prizes oh shit wait why would he want to need that? So he asks me, what do you need that for? I locked my keys in my car and I need to jimmy the door… so right in the middle of car he says oh I cant help you there… so im like ok fuck you asshole you fuckin piece of shit, fuck you… thanks… so I walk out to the batting cage area and theres this dude kickin balls back into the ball return for the pitching machine hes says someshit to me that sounded like, you want go hit there? I was thinking what the fuck did you just say to me?! No Im wondering if you have a coat hangar or some kind of thin metal thing that I could use to jimmy my car open… hes like, do you have AAA or some cash there are some pay phones over there if you want you can call them up and they can help you out… do you know where security is right now? Dude… security doesnt come until five oclock… I was thinking it was some time around fifteen til four. Or someshit like that… so I start walkin I guess east on sepulveda towards ventura. Theres this dude right outside the parking lot thats workin on his car or tying down his front license plate and bumper or something… he smells kinda fucked up. Hey man… do you have a hanger? What?.. I dont… do you have a hangar, a coat hangar. I sorry I dont unerdstan… great hes a fuckin dumb ass… just my luck… so I set out towards ventura… im passing by all these fuckin things like fences and telephone poles… there! All metal wires all over the fuckin place… now all I need are some fuckin wire cutters or lock cutters… yeah… thatll come by just walkin around. So I walk and walk on and on passing by all these cars and im lookin at the antennaes like… damn… that would be perfect. Plagued by its effects, Barbara Ehrenreich and Henry David Thoreau offer readers their insight on Consumerism. Consumerism is one of the most debatable theories that have valid arguments from all sides. Both Ehrenreich and Thoreau are anxious about the concept of Consumerism. In Walden, Thoreau condemns it, feeling that Consumerism controls ones life, with his emphasis on self-reliance; in Nickel and Dimed, Ehrenreich, conveyed how Consumerism created jobs that degraded people and caused them dissatisfaction.

Consumerism is the never-ending purchasing of new goods and services, without paying attention to their true need, durability, origin, and its harm to the environment. It is set into our minds by the immense advertising designed to attract people to follow certain trends. It hampers with the idea that instead of society working for an adequate supply of lifes necessities, it replaces it with a created artificial life, always wanting things, and have little or no concern for the true value of utility itings. Materialism is the end result of Consumerism. Not only does this have the power to attract people, Consumerism can control and influence your life. An increase in the number of jobs can also be a direct result of Consumerism. But these jobs that have been created for people who are widespread in poverty and dehumanization.

Thoreau is concerned that Consumerism has the power to control the lives of people, not allowing them to do what they would like to do. "Most men, even in this comparatively free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the factitious cares and superfluously coarse labors of life that its finer fruits cannot be plucked by them." (Thoreau, ) Here, he argues that even in this free country, almost everyone is involved in a realm of a fake life and endure the rough labor to get it. Instead of their mistakes and ignorance, they should be searching for the "finer fruits" (). As people suppose that they need to own things this need forces them to devote all their time to labor. But he dives deeper into the concept of Consumerism by concentrating on labor as a necessity. He says, "But men labor under a mistake. The better part of the man is soon ploughed into the soil for compost. By a seeming fate, commonly called necessity, they are employed, as it says in an old book…" (). He sums up that everyones possessions require excess labor to purchase them, but also oppress them. Thoreau challenges his readers by asking, "It is an interesting question how far men would retain their relative rank if they were divested of their clothes." He then goes on to saying, "There is some of the same fitness in a mans building his own house that there is in their dwellings with their own hands, and provided food for themselves and families simply and honestly enough, the poetic family would be universally developed, as birds universally sing when they are so engaged?"(1) Even though, Thoreau does not directly mention Consumerism, it is clear that what he refers to as luxuries and necessities are directed towards that concept. "Some things are really necessities of life in some circles, the most helpless, and diseased, which in other are luxuries merely, and in others still are entirely unknown."(4) Consumerism being a rather large concept to understand, Barbara Ehrenreich had a slightly different opinion.

Barbara Ehrenreich is concerned that even though Consumerism creates jobs, good or bad, someone has to fill them. Most of the time these are the jobs that tend to be ones that are dirty, gory, and some even inhumane. As Consumerism becomes widespread, we tend to purchase goods and services at will. As this increases, more and more jobs are created, especially ones that require someone to cover the dirty work. Ehrenreich experiences this at first hand, "Maddy assigns me to do the kitchen floor. OK, except that Mrs. W. is in the kitchen, so I have to go down on my hands and knees practically at her feet."(Ehrenreich, 8) She then goes on to say, "But it is this primal posture of submission-and of what is ultimately anal accessibility- that seems to gratify the consumers of maid services."(84) She continues this by emphasizing her point, "Thats not your marble bleeding, I want to tell her, its the world wide working class-the people who quarried the marble, wove your Persian rugs until they went blind, harvested the apples in your lovely fall-themed dining room centerpiece, smelted the steel for the nails, drove the trucks, put up this building, and now bend and squat and sweat to clean it."(0) Ehrenreich also mentions that consumerism also causes dissatisfaction for people who are not fortunate to buy things that other people can. "Self-restraint becomes more of a challenge when the owner of a million-dollar condo…" (0) Readers can also see there is a sense of dissatisfaction during a discussion in the van, "Or well drive by a Dairy Queen and Holly will say, "They have great foursquares"-the local name for a sundae-"there, you know. With four kinds of sauce. You get chocolate, strawberry, butterscotch, and marshmallow and any kind of ice cream you want. I had one once and let it get a little melted and, oh my God," etc" (6).

Both Thoreau and Ehrenreich experienced first hand, the effects of Consumerism. For Thoreau it was self-reliance, being able to live his life and not be absorbed into a false one. For Ehrenreich it was her experience of poverty and dehumanization. Consumerism has its effects on everyone including these two. As Thoreau said it best, "What a man thinks of himself, that it is which determines, or rather indicates his fate."(Thoreau, 4)

Suggesting that the South won the War Between the States comes across as an appalling betrayal of American History as the American people know it. But do people truly know the nations history or just what they have been taught? Closely examining the goals of the Union versus the Confederacy people will come to find who really won the war.

In the Civil War or as in any other war, either group, in this case the Union and the Confederacy, fights to restore a common goal as far as each side is concerned. In the case of the War Between the States the South wanted to continue slavery as the slaves provided cheap labor for the large plantation operations prominent in the Southern states at this time. In conjunction with keeping slavery alive they also wanted the slaves to "know their place" in society. The North on the other hand had two separate goals in mind. First, was to preserve the Union. And second, was to abolish slavery. As a result of the war both the North and South remained victorious; each in only two of the four following areas; politically, socially, eco-nomically and morally.

Politically the South won the war. In the year 1865 the Freedmans Bureau was established in helping aid former slaves by providing them with food, fuel and clothing. The bureau also had acres of confiscated land that then could be leased to freed slaves or white Unionists. In addition, the 1th Amendment was drafted to further guarantee the end of slavery. Simplified it says that slavery, nor servitude, unless being punished for a crime, will exist in the U.S. The South, in an attempt to show their unwillingness for allowing and accepting the freedom of African Americans, passed "black codes" in South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, and other states. These codes were designed to restrict freedom and keep African Americans as close to slave status as possible, making Northern Republicans irate. In reaction to the use of "black codes" in the South, Congress passed two bills in 1866 to aid African Americans. The first bill was the Civil Rights Act and the other bill the 14th Amendment. The Civil Rights Act made it so that all persons born in the United States (except Indians) were national citizens and then listed rights these people were now entitled to thus African Americans were allowed full and equal benefit of all that the white men enjoyed. The 14th Amendment was passed due to the fact that President Johnson vetoed the Civil Rights Act. This Amendment made it clear that national citizenship included all former slaves due to the fact that they were either born or naturalized in the U.S. It also prohibited violating privileges of any citizen without due process. In this same year, 1866, the still prevalent Ku Klux Klan was founded as a Tennessee social club. Social they were not. They terrorized black and white Republicans in the various forms of threats, whippings, or even murdering individuals. These and similar acts were committed prior to the 1868 election to prevent black and white Republicans alike from voting in favor of Ulysses S. Grant of the Republican Party. To the KKKs dismay, Grant won the election despite the violence and terror they had caused. In 1868 seven former Confederate states had elected Republican governments, approved the revised constitutions, and ratified the 14th Amendment. Congress passed the 15th Amendment in 186 noting that the right to vote could not be denied due to race, color etc. Fearing that the amendment would not be ratified on account of discriminating loopholes Congress enhanced the chances of ratification by requiring the remaining Confederate states approve the 14th and 15th Amendment in order to be readmitted to the Union. Upon this final act Reconstruction was complete. However, despite each attempt by Northern Politicians and Congress to put an end to slavery in the U.S. Southern Politics were radically protected by the Ku Klux Klan. Though a withering organization, they are still a prevalent source of terror in America today.

Morally the North won the Civil War. In life, much like in war, the better things are going the higher the morale of each involved, thus keeping that group in the positive light. On the battle field the North won a vast majority of the larger battles and the South conquered smaller battles, thus making up the war. Most of the fighting also took place in the Southern states causing mass amounts of destruction to crops, homes, and complete towns as well as the families who lived there. Once the war was over the South trudged back home, at least to what was left of it, and the North triumphed, basking in the high spirits of the time. Economically the North prevailed as well. Due to the fact that most of the fighting had taken place in the Southern states, as stated above, much of the best agricultural land lay ruined. This included fields in northern Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and huge areas located in Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. Retreating Confederates had destroyed most of the cotton crops on purpose during the war to prevent its capture by federal troops. What remained of the cotton was confiscated by the Union troops as war contraband. Richmond, Atlanta and other towns and cities were left in complete ruins. The destruction the Civil War had caused left the South in a huge economic set back that would take them more than a generation to overcome. Now that the war was over what used to be considered a measure of prestige and wealth in the South, cotton and slaves, held less meaning. In 1870 the South only controlled 1% of the nations wealth, down 1% since 1860 when they controlled 5% of the nations wealth. As for the Northern states, they returned to their factories thus retaining their industrial power and economic status.

Socially the South triumphed in the post Civil War era. In conjunction with the aforementioned political happenings between the North and South, the South was still able to keep up slave like conditions years after the war ended. The freemen of the South were now being transformed from slaves to wage laborers by a man named General Benjamin F. Butler beginning in the year 186. This new policy of Butlers required that slaves remain on the plantation, where they would now receive very small wages for their work, while on a fixed schedule. Food and medical care was available for the old and or the sick. This system spanned throughout much of Louisiana and by 1864 there were more than 50,000 African Americans laboring daily on more than 1,500 plantations and they were all under contract. The contracts were required and supervised by the army and any wage laborer who did not sign one lost the ability of choosing where to work and would no longer receive pay. Instead the government relinquished the wages the laborer otherwise would have received at the years end. If one left before the one year mark from starting work was up they would not receive pay either. In other cases after the war, estate owners offered wages to the African Americans and then made them pay for food and a place to stay. These costs drove each who stayed on the plantation into debt, and they were not allowed to leave until the debt was paid off. Additionally, whites in the South banned together more than ever taking their "white pride" to a new level. At this point white skin had defined a social bond like no other making it so that even the poorest of the white men were superior to any black man no matter how prosperous or skilled he might be.

After reviewing the four areas; social, political, moral and economical both the North and South each equally achieved their goals set prior to the war that no winner is definitive. This further exemplifies that a victory must consist of more than one aspect than just "winning". In looking back at how shocking a suggestion the South having won the Civil War might have seemed at first, the question didnt change history, it has just changed the way you look at it.

Order your war on iraq paper at affordable prices! "If Saddam Hussein doesnt DISARM, it will be his FINAL MISTAKE!" George W. Bush. When looking at this quote one would understand the reason that this will be Saddam Husseins final Mistake. This is because the US will do everything in its power to get rid of him, which will most likely result to war. But to some people, the US is making a big mistake.

(PAUSE) Mrs. Goldstein and possible small pox recipients

For the next few minutes I will be speaking to you about why the United States should have held off war with Iraq until a later date.

Over the past couple of months, the US has stated their reasons for wanting to start war with Iraq. Some of the reasons were that ever since the Gulf War, the US has known that Saddam Hussein has NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL and CHEMICAL weapons that are capable of destroying major cities and even countries. Also Saddam has FAILED to cooperate with the United Nations in their weapons inspections. The United States is worried that if they dont put an end to Saddam Husseins empire, then eventually, Iraq will have powered many terrorist groups with lethal weapons as well having the money to continue to develop and create more harmful weapons that could one day, wipe out all of man kind.

Write a research paper on war on iraq

In addition, by researching I have found more significant reasons as to why the United States should go to war with Iraq at sometime. If they dont wipe out this generation of terrorists then the next generation willing more terrorists who hate the United States and their allies with a passion. There for in 10 when George Bush. Sr. was the President, they were allies with Saddam Hussein and they knew about what he did to the Curds with his Nerve Gas but they chose to keep it quiet. The reason for this was that they were both enemies of Iran. But later in his presidency, when George Bush wanted to start war with Iraq because of what they were capable of, all his advisors tried to convince him not to start war, but he did anyways. Unfortunately, the two main reasons that he went into war, he didnt accomplish; he failed to destroy Saddam Hussein and his weapons. So now George W. Bush is trying to clean up the mess that his Dad didnt take care of. But there are many obstacles that stand in their way.

The United States should have held off war at this moment because they need the backing of the United Nations. Also the US is going into Iraq to destroy the weapons of mass destruction but what could possibly happen is that Iraq would be forced into a situation where they would have to use their weapons as defence. The only dilemma is that their weapons cannot reach the United States so Iraq would use them on one of the USs allies that are close to them. Unfortunately, this could easily be ISRAEL. This poses a problem for the US because at this moment Israel does not want to get into a war, but a major attack like that woulding what is left of Israel into the war. Then the USs allies would start turning on the US because they dont want to be put into a dangerous position and before you know it, the whole world will be at each others throats.

As of March 1, 00, Thirty-Two countries were asked if they supported the United States in their bid for war on Iraq, if they wanted war but not yet or if they didnt want war at all. Majority of the countries voted for war but not yet. The only reasons that some countries didnt vote for war was because they wanted to protect themselves and they wanted to ensure that in the future they would have good relationships with all the countries that have important industries such as gas and oil. All the US had to do was hold off war until they had the support and approval of majority of their allies. Then they would have more ammo, more soldiers, more intelligence and most importantly UNIFICATION.

And now I will leave you with one final thought

Nerve Gas Capable of killing a town and defecting generations to come.

Small pox capable of killing a city and spreading through out the province or state.

Nuclear War Heads With one blast, it is capable of killing a state or a province

World War Three A terrible possibility and it is capable of turning the world against each other which will eventually lead to the demolition of the world as we know it.

If you knew a vicious dictator had you in the palm of his hand with all these possibilities to choose from, would you go to war, or wait for support?

In Philip Roths, Defender of the Faith, there is a great intra personal struggle involving

the storys protagonist, Sergeant Nathan Marx. Throughout the story he is challenged in learning

how to live as not only a sergeant, but also a Jewish man, and a human being. In facing difficult

Online essay help on Defender of the Faith decisions, he realizes that these three identities are very difficult to distinguish. This conflict

becomes the recurring theme of the story. The reader is able to see the trouble Marx has in

confronting his faith, occupation, and humanity, and in doing this the readers attention is called

too just how hard this truly is in life.

The theme is greatly demonstrated in Marx relationship with the Jewish soldiers, Sheldon

Grossbart, Larry Fishbein, and Michael Halpern. The three soldiers recognize Marxs religion and

immediately take advantage of it. They begin by asking Marx for permission to attend the services

for Jews on Friday night, rather than participating in the G.I. party with the rest of the soldiers.

Their request seems sincere until their behavior at the service is described. For such hardcore

Jewish boys they were very irreverent, childish, and almost sacrilegious at the service. Their

motive was clearly to get out of the G.I. party, and not have to worry about what the other soldiers would say. They manipulated Marx in order to get what they wanted. The soldiers played upon the element of Marxs religion in order to get out of cleaning. This begins the series of questions that start invading Marxs mind. What comes first, being a sergeant, or being a Jew? Where can the line between the two be drawn?

The second instance is Grossbart writing a letter supposedly from his father to a congressman complaining about the military food. Grossbart insists that the food causes him to throw up, being that none of it is kosher and he is such an orthodox Jew. When Grossbart is questioned about the letter and his eating habits, he againings Marx in on his answer. Grossbart says, "I eat because I have to, sir. But Sergeant Marx will testify to the fact that I dont eat one mouthful more than I need in order to survive." After Grossbart says, this Marx denies that he has any knowledge of how Grossbart eats. Grossbart then answers saying, "But you heard the rabbi . . . He told us what to do, and I listened." By making clear and obvious remarks regarding their trip to the Jewish services he is again revealing the underlying theme. Is Marx not a Jew? Does Marx not know the pains of eating like this? Is Marx not a sergeant, someone well above a soldier like Grossbart in rank? Fortunately, Captain Barrett is able to make a legitimate reason to refuse Grossbarts request. Marx has been in the service for three years and two months and he has not once peeped about the food.

Grossbart continues to manipulate Marxs position when he asks for a favor, information regarding where the soldiers are going to be sent. Grossbart wants to know this information supposedly because his parents are severely worried, but it is obvious that he is just using his false kinship with Marx to acquire the answer to his question. Grossbart is successful in affecting Marx, but not in getting hold of any concrete answer as to where they are being sent. The personal ties of family that Grossbart speaks of really get to Marx. These images remind Marx that Grossbart was once a child, with a loving, protective family; just as Marx himself was. This conflict really questions the human side of Marx. Is it necessary to be such a stern sergeant at all times? When can human emotion actually be considered?

The theme is again presented during the absence of Captain Barrett. Grossbart attempts to take advantage of the Captains absence by asking Marx to give him a pass to leave for the weekend. Grossbart wants to go to St. Louis and have a Passover dinner with his relatives who live there. Marx is beginning to see through the faithless acts Grossbart is continually putting on. Just because he is Jewish, does not mean he deserves any special treatment. Yet, when Grossbart goes so far as to compare Marx to Hitler and states that he will go even without a pass, Marx gives in. Grossbart was clearly pushing Marxs limits yet again. When can a man stop being a man? When can a Jew stop being a Jew? When does a sergeant stop being a sergeant? These are the questions that flood Marxs mind. These are the questions in life that are greatly emotionally demanding.

The theme is so very clear in Marxs visible struggle. He is a soldier and a Jew, but above all he is a man. He has a conscience, which is precisely what causes him to continue allowing the soldiers and Grossbart to affect him. He is also a very sensitive person. He is sensitive to not only the needs of those around him, but to the validity of his actions and beliefs as a person. Marxs fight is just beginning, he has learned the importance of knowing when to be a soldier, when to be a Jew, and when to be a man. This is a difficult battle that all humans inevitably face.

Proctor, at first, signed the document but because of his integrity, he was unable to. Proctor made his decision based on personal beliefs on what he thought was right and is defined as a martyr because of this.

Proctor, having lived with guilt over his adultery for a long time, has a change of heart towards the end of the play. His reasons for keeping his adultery with Abigail a secret, were because he feared what people would think of him. He had changed because at the end of the play, he had not cared about public opinion of his name, but he cared about the integrity of his name. Proctor is the tragic hero, he died because he did not want to dishonor other innocent people sentenced to death. In all plays, movies, books, etc. the man who dies for what is right is the hero, and John Proctor is that man in this play.

Online essay help on Proctor - Right Decision

Proctors final decision was the best choice he could possibly make. When he died, he forgot about all of his previous sins (the affair with Abigail Williams), and is able to die with a clear conscience. Proctor had pride and would not sell his name to some man for something he knew was wrong. Proctors wife was quoted as saying "He have his goodness now. God Forbid I take it from him," in response to when she was asked to stop her husband from taking his life. John made his decision because it was how he believed he would be able to get into heaven, there is not a better nor more noble reason to do something, than to do it because it is right.

John Proctor is the most noble character in this play, he was willing to die honorably, and and was willing to die as "testimony to the truth." As he died, he began to recite a prayer, to show that he knew what he was doing was right, and that his spirit and his name can not be shattered. It is not possible to disagree with Johns decision, because doing that is asking him to lie, ruin his good name, lose self respect, and dishonor the others who fought to death, to defend the truth.

. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we Understood Him.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

The tragedy of OTHELLO derives from century-old traditions of tragic drama. Discuss

Tragic dramas have been written and performed for many centuries and throughout this time, they have undergone an evolutionary process, with each successive era of tragic drama deriving directly or indirectly from its predecessors. Scholars believe that the play Othello by William Shakespeare was first published in 160; approximately at the same time as Shakespeares other great tragedies Macbeth, Hamlet and King Lear. After careful analysis of each of these four great tragedies, we can conclude that Shakespeare has maintained a template for tragedy throughout these works, more specifically a backbone plot to which he can add different characters and themes to create tragic dramas dealing with entirely different issues. By examining Shakespeares template for tragedy, we begin to notice similarities with past templates for tragedy, examples of which include the Aristotle, Seneca and Christian Morality templates. Each of which will be looked at in detail shortly to analyse how they have influenced the production of the play Othello. To relate Othello to the template for Shakespearean tragedy and other older forms of tragedy, firstly we must deconstruct Shakespeares template for tragedy and compare the characters and plot lines presented in Othello to those fitting the template. Subsequently we must decide to what extent its components are similar to those seen in other forms of tragedy and hence to what extent previous templates have influenced the creation of Shakespeares masterpieces.

The Shakespearean template for tragedy is a set of guidelines to which the great four tragedies are loosely based upon, and as will be seen, Othello is an excellent example of this. The tragic characteristic that Shakespeare sees in life is the imperfection of the human psyche, and the adverse consequences of the exploitation of flaws. Shakespeare incorporates this theme heavily into his template for tragedy, so much so, that each of his great tragedies center entirely around the downfall of a protagonist from a position of nobility and high status. In all cases, the exploitation of the tragic heros fatal flaw, leads to a downward spiral in the characters sanity and morality, always leading to death. The hero must always start high in that he must have high moral values, be good natured and is of a high position in society. During the course of the play, there is a conflict often involving the villain, causing the surfacing of the heros fatal flaw. This unbalance in the heros character always leads to the hero commits mainly heinous acts of violence towards people close and important to him, often while in a state of delusion or frenzy. Just prior to the death of the hero, there is a Catharsis, in which the hero gains insight into all the harm and suffering he has caused. He realizes at this point that his fatal flaw has lead to his fall from grace and that he must now end his own life to cease any further suffering and pain. After a simple analysis of the plot and characters in Othello, each of these features can be seen. It is quite apparent that Othello starts off as a noble and great man. Not only was he a General in the army, but he was also greatly respected and admired in the community. He was often referred to as "The Valiant Moor" or "Valiant Othello" by many of his colleagues and even men who were not particularly fond of him, but to understand his true greatness we must look at Iagos words; "The Moor (howbeit that I endure him not) Is of a constant, loving, noble nature". The importance of this quote is further emphasized as we see Iago constantly repeating the words "I hate the Moor". We see that despite Iagos hatred towards Othello, he cannot deny that Othello is of great nobility and honour. This proves that Othello, started very high despite his eventual downfall. Next, we witness the manipulation of Othellos fatal flaw; jealousy. Iago tempts Othello into thinking bad of his wife, and despite Othellos best efforts, his uncontrollable jealousy overwhelms him. Act III Scene III is often regarded as the conflict scene as it is the scene in which Iago tempts Othello, that is, the first step in Othellos eventual downfall. During this scene, Othello states "I do not think but Desdemonas honest", but in a matter of fifty lines, the effect of Iago deviousness is revealed. Othello exclaims "Shes gone. I am abusd, and my relief Must be to loathe her". It is after this scene that the downfall of Othello occurs. His jealousy begins to overwhelm him, and even though his demands "ocular proof, he accepts a simple misplaced handkerchief as proof of Desdemonas waning honesty. He subsequently commits many monstrous acts, the worst of which is killing Desdemona, his beloved wife. After this deed, he realizes that he was deceived by Iago and repents all his wrong doings, namely the Catharsis of the play. As the play comes to a close, Othello takes his own life, as a sign of penitence, a true sign of a tragic hero. As can be seen, Othello is an excellent example of a play following the Shakespearean template for tragedy, but to find out its true roots, we must also look at earlier forms of tragedy. College papers on The Tragedy Of Othello Firstly, we can look at Aristotles template for tragedy. Tragic dramas under the Aristotle tragedy were not necessarily written by Aristotle himself, but rather they were analysed and accepted as fitting the guidelines of tragedy in accordance to Aristotle theories. Aristotle believed that tragic dramas must involve cause-and-effect chains. This can be interpreted as saying that tragic dramas must envision the consequences of a particular action or behaviour, and in addition must not be episodic, but rather a linear progression of events. Aristotle also believed that protagonist have a Hamartia, which in modern times has been translated to tragic flaw or mistake. Hence, the ideal tragedy will comprise of the downfall of the hero due to a mistake or flaw in his character rather than being evil or sinful. Lastly, a Catharsis occurs at the end of the play in which there is a purification of the central characters errors. Although it is debatable to whether Shakespeare was aware of these older forms of tragic drama, it can be easily argued that the tragedy of Othello derives directly or indirectly from the traditions and principles laid down by older forms of tragic drama. The main evidence of this is the closeness to which Shakespeares template for tragedy parallels that of Aristotles. As can be seen, both Shakespeare and Aristotle both rely heavily upon the exploitation of a heros fatal flaw to be the major source of conflict in a drama. In addition the play Othello follows closely to features of Aristotles tragedy that are not specifically stated as part of Shakespeares tragedy. An example of this is the cause-and-effect visualization presented. The play Othello shows the consequences of an action or event, as Othello chooses to believe Iagos mistrustful words over his own better judgment, thus resulting in his eventual downfall. As can be seen Othello closely resembles traditions of much older forms of tragic drama. For further proof of this, we can look at Senecan tragedy.

Seneca was a Roman philosopher, who wrote about the abundance of evil in the world and it manifestations. Typically, a Senecan Tragedy begins with a Could of Evil, but eventually ends in the defeat of this evil. Seneca showed evil in many forms and often used supernatural themes and gruesome forms of death as a form a dramatization. Othello can be analysed to correlate with Senecan tragedy, through the evil in the play; Iago. Even from the beginning, the audience sees Iago as a scheming villain. He states "I am not what I am" indicating he is simply putting on a façade to Othello, when the reality is that he is only seeking a means to fulfill his own desires. At this point, the audience instantly predicts the evil that Iago is likely toing to the play. Throughout the course of the play, Iagos presence is felt as he constantly tempts and coaxes Othello into believing Desdemonas infidelity. By the end of the play, Iagos death signifies the end of evil and more specifically the triumph of good over evil. As can be seen, through the use of evil as a means of conflict, Othello corresponds to the Senecan template for tragedy. Supplementary to this, the handkerchief if often seen as a means of conveying supernatural themes. The mysteriousness of its placement was often regarded as a possibility to Shakespearean audiences, who believed much more strongly in the mystical powers than modern audiences. It must also be mentioned that Othello does not completely follow Senecan tragedy as there is no torture or extremely violent acts, and hence Othello only follows Senecan tragedy to a certain extent.

Lastly, we must look at Christian Morality Plays, of which an example is the play Everyman. Christian Morality Plays were a major constituent of medieval drama, and were created to promote and teach the Christian doctrines. The aim of all Morality plays was to teach the audience the consequences of particular actions and more specifically show the consequences of wrong doings. To do this, the plays often consisted of characters who represented metaphorical characteristics favourable or unfavourable to humans, such as love and greed. Othello can be seen as following these principles in that it also teaches the consequences of wrong doing. The characters presented in Othello can also be seen as loosely representing particular virtues, such as Iago represents greed and evil whereas Desdemona represents love and honesty. In this case, Othello must decide to what extent he follows each character, therefore determining his course of actions. As seen in Morality plays, Othello chooses wrongly and faces the consequences of his actions. But eventually realizes his mistake and saves his soul by committing suicide. As can be seen, the play Othello derives from Christian Morality plays and therefore century-old traditions of tragic drama.

The play Othello was designed and written to fit the Shakespearean template for tragedy, but as seen has inevitably been derived from older forms of tragic drama. This is extremely evident in that the plot, characters and themes presented in Othello resonate the templates for older for of tragic drama. In conclusion it can be said that due to the large similarities between Shakespeares Othello and its predecessors, Othello itself derives not only from the Shakespearean template for tragedy but has also been influenced greatly by past instances of tragedy and tragic drama.

School of poetry

The poem belongs to Romantic poetry.

Theme

The theme of the poem is about Ulysses¡¯ rebellion against conformity and the urge from him to strive in the world rather than to sit still.

Form

The poem is a dramatic monologue. It establishes an identifiable speaker who is quite distinct from the poet himself. The line form is the one usually used in epic poetry.

Rhyme scheme and rhythm

The poem is written in blank verse.

The blank verse is a form of verse which is written in iambic pentameter and is not rhymed which means we can separate one verse in 5 feet; unstress the first syllable of every foot and stress the second one.

Background of the poem

It is a poem based on Homer¡¯s Odyssey, which is the story of Ulysses and his journeys. Ulysses was King of Ithaca and leader of the Greek army. The Greeks sailed into Troy to fight what turned out to be a lengthy battle. After 10 years at war, Ulysses and the Greek army conquered Troy and set out on their voyage home. But the former King of Ithaca seemed to feel enough of the normal domestic life and have grown restless and bored.

The excerpt in our book is the concluding part of the poem. It reveals Ulysses¡¯ restlessness and determination to set out for new adventures, to end life heroically rather than in peaceful dullness.

Figurative language

To sail beyond the sunset. (line 7)

Sunset is a metaphor for death.

Allusion

Great Achilles (line 11) is one example of the allusion. Achilles is a famous Greek, slain by an arrow in the heel during the battle of Troy.

The author used the metaphor and allusion to show Ulysses is very optimistic about the death. But he cares which way to die, he rather chooses heroic way.

Allusion

Happy Isles (line 10) is another example of the allusion, which means the place where people just go after death.

The author used ¡°Happy Isles¡± to represent Ulysses¡¯ pursuit for freedom. Because if you died, you would feel no more stress, then reach the infinite freedom.

Diction

¡°Equal¡± (line 15) along with the repetition words ¡°we are, we are¡± in the previous line is the indication word of Ulysses¡¯ encouragement to his friends. Ulysses encourages us life is mysterious. As we continue to penetrate it, we will leave behind the former selves and reach the infinite potential. Ultimately, we will join in the equal spirit with Ulysses.

Parallel structure

The final verse of the poem ¡°To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.¡± is a parallel structure. It emphasizes Ulysses¡¯ decision for his future--- he will endlessly sail toward his large vague romantic mirage.

HIV is a big problem all around the world; however it is still becoming a bigger problem in developing and in third world countries, especially the African nations.

These nations have a considerable amount of problems in this particular sector because most of the people are very poor and dont have sufficient money toing up their family. They turn to the last resort, which is prostitution. They try and earn some easy money for their family. Also since they have large families, sadly the children end up doing it too or even worse they are even forced to sell their bodies.

The principal problem is that these people cant afford contraceptives or they dont have access to purchase them. In developed countries some types of contraceptives are given out free. The only problem is that these African nations are to poor to afford to distribute them freely and prevent the aids sickness.

Order essays on the HIV problem and other topics The aids sickness is trying to be cured by means of experimentation, however till now they havent really found a cure. Nonetheless t some medicines have been created, which helps this sickness. Furthermore a medicine has been developed that is used when a mother is having a child so that the aids virus will not be transmitted down to the child.

Unfortunately these nations do not have any access to the new medicines because they are too expensive to buy from these large pharmaceutical companies. However there are some companies who are trying to copy them and distribute them or sell them for half the price to the African nations, which are in desperate need for help.

Above all the only cure is prevention and education. The African people should be educated about the whole issue ,like this they will not continue practicing prostitution to earn some money or at least use contraceptives.

Furthermore these people have a right to education, thus they should be sent to school and learn how to make money in a different way than prostituting..
